Changes to face-to-face services as Stroud branch will be closing on 11 September 2023.
When we first merged with Stroud Valleys Credit Union last year, we aimed to bring new, improved and modernised services to members in the Stroud district. As part of that modernisation, we have connected SVCU’s members to GWCU’s extending digital facilities. These digital improvements mean that more and more members are benefiting from faster and easier access to our services.
The success of the digital transformation has allowed for convenient access to our services and has caused significantly fewer people to use the Stroud branchpoint.
Considering this, alongside the high and rising costs associated with running a branch, means that operating this fixed presence at The Old Town Hall is no longer viable. We have taken the difficult decision to close this location and 11 September will be our last day.
We want to extend a huge thank you to the volunteers that have been supporting our colleague Sarah Walker at the branch in Stroud. Your service has been invaluable and we are committed to supporting the members that you have helped over the years.
Although the physical branch presence will close, we are pleased to confirm that our colleague Sarah Walker will continue to work as part of the GWCU Member Services team. We are delighted that Sarah has agreed to continue serving our members, albeit on a different basis moving forward.

We appreciate that change is never easy, but we are confident that our members will continue to receive the service they need throughout this time and into the future. The quickest and easiest way for members to access their credit union account is via the member portal. Here, members can send us questions, make transfers and apply for loans and savings.
