Free organisational support and resources that can help you build your mental and financial wellbeing during the holiday season and beyond.

While the Holiday season is a time of celebration, many of us will be feeling the financial and mental health stresses more than ever. Great Western Credit Union exists to make local people better off with simple savings and affordable loans, and we know it is vital to look after your mental health as we move into the new year.

Able Futures – free mental health guidance 

Able Futures is a free mental health support service, with trained specialists who can help with a range of mental health issues. You can apply for 9 months of support, and they also offer free information to help with mental health struggles. 

Check out their guidance on Season Affective Disorder (SAD) to help you get through this winter season.

Tune in to a helpful podcast 

Listening to a podcast about mental can be an easy way to find tips and advice. You can listen along on your way to work, doing housework or at the gym. 

The Mental Health Foundation has covered a wide range of mental health topics, from men’s mental health, body image, the importance of sleep and much more.

Money Helper – free advice on money and pensions 

Backed by the government, Money Helper is an amazing organisation that provides free advice around money and pensions. There’s a section for employment with useful information, including the basics of how you get paid at work, employee benefits for married couples and how to understand national insurance and income tax. 

Young Minds - Support for young people’s mental health 

If your child or a young person that you know is struggling with mental health issues, Young Minds is a charity that provides advice and support for young people, and parents or carers to support young people.  

Young Minds has guides to help you support young children with anxiety, self-esteem, exam time, drugs and alcohol and many more topics. There’s also a section for young people with news, guides and advice on how to cope with their specific struggles.
